With this knowledge, Isaac pushes on, determined to find his wife Nicole, reunite with his crew and depart the ship.Īfter managing to re-establish contact with Hammond and Daniels, the trio summarize that they'll have to fix the ship to prevent it from breaking apart before they've gotten a chance to escape. Isaac realises that the flesh-eating creatures (which appear to be mutated versions of the ship's crew) can only be stopped if they're dismembered, giving our protagonist a means to defeat this mysterious foe. In their first encounter with the creatures, Chen is killed and Isaac is separated from his allies, fleeing deeper into the ship.Īfter escaping an initial swarm of necromorphs, Isaac finds a small workshop where he tracks down a Plasma Cutter and a message scrawled in blood on a wall: " Cut off their limbs". After investigating the vessel, Isaac, Hammond, Daniels and Chen are attacked by nightmarish monsters known as necromorphs. They're surprised to find nobody responds to their extravagant entrance, and it doesn't take long to deduce why. The responding officers arrive at the mining ship but, due to a malfunction, crash their vessel into the Ishimura's docking bay. Isaac has additional skin in the game as his wife, Doctor Nicole Brennan, is stationed aboard the ship, working on a mysterious project. Receiving a distress beacon from the USG Ishimura, engineer Isaac Clarke (our lead protagonist), Senior Security Officer Zach Hammond, Computer Specialist Kendra Daniels, Corporal Johnston and Corporal Aiden Chen are sent to board the ship and discover the source of the distress call. However, this seemingly routine planet-cracking mission appears to have met a hitch, and that's where we come in. In Dead Space's dystopian far future, humanity has exhausted Earth's natural resources, creating ships like the Ishimura to harvest other planets for their resources. Our tale takes place in the year 2508 aboard the USG Ishimura an elite spaceship known as a " planet cracker" that has the ability to mine planets. If you want to find all of the logs and discover the Ishimura's darkest secrets for yourself, check out our Text and Audio Logs Guide for a breakdown of their locations. In that case it will take slightly longer to get ahold of.It's worth noting that a lot of Dead Space's story is explained via audio and text logs. The only hole in my idea is if Dead Space doesn't use Anti mater in anything. You want a god killer? We've been theorizing one for almost a century. the further in space you can go the more Anti M you can find. Literally a gram and you remove a brother moon (unless I read the amounts wrong). Using the convention that 1 kiloton TNT equivalent = 4.184×1012 joules (or one trillion calories of energy), one half gram of antimatter reacting with one half gram of ordinary matter (one gram total) results in 21.5 kilotons-equivalent of energy. Annihilation requires and converts exactly equal masses of antimatter and matter by the collision which releases the entire mass-energy of both, which for 1 gram is ~9×1013 joules. ![]() It does not matter how big the enemy is, let's see him survive checks wikipediaĪntimatter and matter collisions result in the entire sum of their mass energy equivalent being released as energy, which is at least two orders of magnitude greater than the energy release of the most efficient fusion weapons (100% vs 0.4-1%). These Moons, no matter how strong, are locked by evolution and an impossibly slow reproduction cycle.Īlso, Y'know. Humans can always build a better gun, a stealthier missile, or just go with the O'le mass driver from the next system over plan. It only took a short cutscene to get from earth to Tau, then back again later so I'm guessing travel with a shock drive is trivial. Oh yeah, this is just the threat humans need to stop wasting time with this "recourse crisis" and get things back on track. This is it for the brother moons, Isaac killed one as a one man army, now imagine an entire platoon of moon killing army guys. Woops! now everyone knows to expect this! and I grantee no one else will ever try to build a marker. I remember in DS2 we hear that they never had the marker contained, that some signal was always hidden and leaking out. ![]() The Moons played their card to early, now EVERYONE knows what they are and what they can do. We've heard of all these other human civilizations out in the galaxy, plus the fact that anyone can just take a ship and *leave* to start a new colony somewhere else. This is the galactic version of the Pearl Harbor attack. So, the brother moons come out and attack earth to feed or whatever. I don't think anyone is to worried about the end of 3 any more.
